16-Feb-2001 Al Savage (asavage@iname.com) I recall that it is very common for the 3-4 detent spring (No. 62 above) to get sacked/weak/broken. The symptom is that the transmission will shift itself to neutral upon deceleration in 3rd gear. A relatively easy problem to fix, "just" replace that spring. Unfortunately, the shift rail must be removed, which necessitates removal of the transmission's rear housing, as well as the transmission's top cover. |
